Matthew Farrell

 

Matthew Farrell is a combined media artist from Los Angeles, CA. He attended the University of Oregon, in Eugene where he attained a BFA in 2002 and is currently a 2009 MFA candidate at Hunter College in New York. Farrell is interested in the place where observer and object come to meet and define themselves reciprocally. Like the sacrificial figure of Casey Jones, who comes careening down the track to meet the paradox of his identity-fulfilling death, there is both discovery and loss to be found as the self interjects itself in the process of looking.
